Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty has brokered the sale of “Swinburne”, located at 115 Pelham Street in Newport’s Historic Hill neighborhood. The property sold today for $2,775,000.
Realtor Jay Serzan was the selling agent and noted, “The buyer was attracted to the home’s quiet elegance and its convenient location close to downtown Newport and the harbor, Bellevue Avenue and Broadway”. He added, “This is an example of a quality property in good condition fetching an excellent price in a difficult market”.
“Swinburne” is sited on a half-acre lot with a 6,100 square foot main house and also offers guest quarters above a two car garage. The Greek Revival house was built in 1860 and sits across from Touro Park. It was the one time home of William Swinburne, a nineteenth century Mayor of Newport.
The property was originally priced at $3,590,000.
